Food allergies may seem only psychological for some. However, some people do really have an abnormal reaction to some commonly harmless food. This is due to some oversensitivity to a specific food and an overreaction of the person’s immune system to the allergen.

Food allergy is more common for children than with adults. Maybe it has something to do with the development of the immune system as we grow older. Also, individuals with food allergies normally outgrow their allergy from three years of age onwards.
